Welcome to the Technology Design Team Weekly Lessons Learned! This will be a recurring feature on Friday afternoons where the Technology Design Team will share top of mind resources and learning. Each week, we will post a few key things we hope you may find useful. We look forward to sharing our learning with you.

Why does the HTML Editor in BLEND look different?
The new “Pretty HTML Editor” is active with color coding, formatting, and enhanced HTML capabilities: Check out the Canvas release notes for more information. If you prefer the “old” view of HTML, click on the “Raw HTML Editor” to go back to the old view without the color coding or spacing.
GoGuardian Teacher continues to provide teachers with a tool for developing strong online productivity and digital citizenship skills with students.
Please consider the below reminders regarding best practices and supporting resources.
Student Tab Management
Tab management can support students as they are learning to manage digital distractions. Please reinforce the best practice of communicating with students before closing tabs in an active GoGuardian class. Students should be allowed to save their work and bookmark tabs before an unexpected browser closure. Teachers may communicate with all students in an active session through the GoGuardian Chat message option or announcements during a synchronous Zoom meeting.
GoGuardian sessions should only be used during the Teacher’s scheduled instructional periods. If needed, the Teacher, student, and caregivers may collaborate on an additional plan to support student success outside of the scheduled instructional periods.

When I type directly into a BLEND page, quiz, assignment, etc., why doesn’t spell check work?
Spellcheck comes from your Chrome browser and not from BLEND. Follow the steps below to ensure spell check is enabled in your Chrome browser:
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the three vertical dots under the “X” in the upper right corner of the browser window.
- Click “Settings.”.
- Select “You and Google.”
- Scroll down to “Advanced” and turn on spell check by ensuring that the toggle is set to the right. You can choose from “Basic spell check” or “Enhanced spell check.”
- When you type in BLEND, spell check should then work through your Chrome browser settings.
How might I help students who need another hotspot?
Technology Services is working on process improvements for hotspot distribution to AISD students. To meet additional student requests, you can now request hotspots to supplement your “reserve supply” by opening a ServiceNow ticket. Use Category: Hotspot and request the number of hotspots needed. Please reach out to our Help Desk (414-8324) for clarification or other questions.
Will Technology Design Team Virtual Office Hours still happen?
Virtual Office Hours with the Technology Design Team for next week will happen on Monday-Thursday from 9:00-11:00 AM and 3:00-5:00 PM and on Friday from 3:00-5:00 PM. Please check the Global Announcement in BLEND for the Zoom link.
Did you know that you can use Jamf Teacher on your district-issued iPad to help manage apps on students’ iPads?
Your students and classes in Jamf are pre-populated based on your TEAMS rosters. For a brief tutorial on limiting app access for students on a district-issued iPad, check out this step-set on getting started with Jamf from Barrington ES. When you open Teacher Jamf on your teacher iPad, you should see your TEAMS-rostered classes pre-populated for you already. If you need to add students to a Jamf class (for instance, because you run a club or share students who are not rostered to you in TEAMS), you can manually create a Jamf class and then manually add students into that newly created class. You cannot add students to TEAMS-rostered Jamf classes.
- Open Jamf Teacher app.
- Click on class.
- Click + in the top right hand corner or scroll all the way down and “Make a New Class.”
- Click “Add Students.”
- There is a Join code at bottom that you will give to students.
Then, students who need to be manually added to your Jamf class will open Student Jamf on their student iPad. They will click the gear icon in the top right-hand corner. Then, they can click “Join class” and enter that code. The code times out, so you may need to do this with students in real-time instead of emailing the join code and waiting for them to join at a later time.
If Jamf Teacher doesn’t work on your iPad, please make sure you are using a district-issued iPad that has been properly registered to your AISD teacher credentials. This step-set provides a reminder on how to use Azure webclip to properly register an AISD account to an iPad.
