What Google add-ons and extensions can students install?

  • The list of Approved Google Add-ons & Extensions (http://bit.ly/aisdaddons) was updated this week. 
  • New additions include student-accessible extensions Canvas+ (change the user experience in BLEND courses), Paint Tool (draw on a webpage and screenshot it), and Grammarly (free version).  
  • Share this video with students who need directions for adding extensions from the AISD Chrome Webstore http://bit.ly/aisdstudentextensions.

How might students draw on webpages and submit the drawing from their Chromebook?

  • The Paint Tool – Screen Marker extension allows students to draw on almost any webpage and capture that work to their Chromebook.

What are the options for having students turn in work from Google Drive?

  • There are four strong options in BLEND and they have significantly different reasons for using them.  Check out “Examples of Google Submissions in BLEND” (http://bit.ly/aisdgooglesubmission) for a short description of each option and short demonstration videos for teachers and students. 
  • New in the doc this week are four graphics that might help make sense of the BLEND External Submission and the three ways to use Google Drive with the BLEND Online Submission assignment type.

What alternatives to Turnitin exist for Austin ISD teachers?

  • Google Assignments 1.3 within BLEND (Canvas) allow for the use of their new plagiarism checker on up to 5 assignments per course term.
  • McGraw-Hill (StudySync) within the high school ELA textbook adoption has a built-in plagiarism checker that checks against papers submitted within the StudySync database.

Why is my BLEND quiz item not giving partial credit?

  • Partial credit grading functionality is currently only supported for Fill-In-The-Blank and Multiple Answer question types.
  • Development of partial credit for Ordering and Matching question types is under consideration.

  • Do NOT access iRead through the iRead app.

NEW TIMESTechnology Design Team Virtual Office HoursNEW TIMES

To better serve teachers, we have shifted office hours.

The Technology Design Team is hosting virtual office hours to help provide real time instructional technology support in the first weeks of school. Virtual Office Hours with the Technology Design Team will happen on Monday-Friday from 10:30 am to 1:30pm.

If you have a technical support issue (device repair or setup, access to systems, etc), please create a ServiceNow ticket to have a technician address your concern.
