How can I remove someone else’s Portal Username on the login screen?

Sometimes, you may type the wrong username or someone else used your browser and the autofill option shows other users. You can remove those usernames without clearing your browser settings for that site.  When you login and see a different username, use the arrow keys to select the other username and then remove it by hitting the delete key (Windows).  Mac users select it with the arrow keys and then hit the Fn+shift+delete keys at the same time.

How can I ensure the instructional videos I want to use from YouTube are viewable by students?

Your Technology Design Specialist is able to verify and approve YouTube videos so they are viewable for students. Students (and staff) will need to be signed in to their AISD accounts for youtube videos to play on district devices.

Speaking of YouTube, did you know you can limit YouTube access and students will be able to watch videos embedded in BLEND?

  • On Chromebooks: If a video is embedded on a BLEND page, YouTube.com can be blocked in GoGuardian AND students can watch the embedded video.
  • On iPads, use Jamf Teacher “whitelist” site for students. If YouTube is not on the whitelist, students can view embedded videos in BLEND/the Canvas app, but will be unable to go to YouTube in their browser.  

How can my students turn in digital work of any type  from any device? 

At this time of year, students may be using a wide variety of devices and software to create products for assignments.  One easy way for teachers to receive this work and be able to share this work with the classroom TV is to use the BLEND Assignment with the Online Submission- File Upload type. Students can access the BLEND assignment on any device which the student has logged in to. Also, there will be no storage limitations for student files when uploaded.

How can students with iPads hide ads and distractions in Safari?

Reader mode in Safari will display a page without the ads.

How can students on iPads “speak” text on the screen?

The iPad can speak selected text or the entire screen.

How can I share a link from my Chrome browser?

The newest version of Chrome has a new share menu on the right side of the address bar. The menu allows one to copy the link, send to another device (if you are logged into your browser), create a QR code for the link, and more. Give it a try.
